A most unholy sight
Description:
Report: 2020 - 2024
I came from Washington (the cool Washington), and now I'm here in Minnesota. As a life-long How I Met Your Mother fan, I've always had a great desire to visit this Land of a Thousand Lakes. I still haven't visited the Mall of America yet, but it's high on my priorities list.
I'm currently pursuing an Computer Science and English double major, since I can't make up my mind about anything. I've also started trying out fencing and archery in the clubs here at the UMN. Hopefully I keep that up, I'm having fun so far. I'm more of a foil fencer than anything else right now, but I do like the other fencing disciplines. I've been needing to practice them more.
I am currently in Pittsburgh. I'm attending a graduate program at Carnegie Mellon University's Entertainment Technology Center, which I suppose makes me an aspiring video game developer.
Since arriving in Pittsburgh, I have become a true, unabashed furry, as well as a pickle enthusiast, due to the numerous conventions and festivals that take place here in the Steel City. My collection of stuff has grown a tad irresponsible; a consequence of my fight against bare walls.
I have also, finally, actually learned how to program. In this phase of my life, I'm just trying to make things. I spend most of my time honing my development skills, working on both academic projects and my own little side projects (such as this website!).
une pathetique
I have a twin brother (designated SCP-016-1) and a younger sister (designated SCP-016-2). SCP-016-1 is attending the same grad program as me, and so I am living in his apartment at the moment. SCP-016-2 has graduated. SCP-016-1 is the composer of much of the music you can find around this site. Check out his stuff!
Me and my siblings all play piano, since childhood. I also play bassoon, which SCP-016-2 also picked up. Granted, I have not practiced nearly as much as I would need to to really stay sharp as of late. But I do still love the bassoon in particular, and hopefully I'll find the time to return to it, eventually. It has caused me much grief, but I am attached.
Additional Notes: To be honest, I am at a loss for what to fill with this 'about me' page, given my fear of sharing information about myself (which is, in part a healthy, parentally distilled anxiety over online safety and in part a fear that certain aspects of my identity I myself could not comfortably commit to in such a manner). And so, I will instead share a brief anecdote about my childhood:
This is a story that I do not remember, but my parents have told me. When I was a small toddler, I fell out of the second story of my family home onto the concrete sidewalk below. The window was opened, and unfortunantely the mesh bugscreen popped out when I leaned against it. I was rushed to the hospital, but according to the doctors, I seemed perfectly fine. I was bruised, to be sure, but apparently I sort of just bounced off of the sidewalk. According to my mother, the way I was bruised, it seemed as though I didn't even put my limbs out to break my fall (which is probably why I was so fine afterwards! I would make that mistake later in my life, and break my arm for it). As I said, I don't actually remember this happening myself, as I was very young and, I suppose, did hit my head. But apparently it traumatized my dad.
